Probably one of the scariest stories my grandfather told me when growing up was the tale of the local Boogeyman or as the local dialect had it "Bogle," a supernatural being in the shape of a man but with a strange deformed appearence. He told us that he once had been alone on the beach one night when he had felt something following him. It was a presence of some sort. The story had a rather disappointing anti-climax when he explained that the snorting breath on the back of his neck turned out to just be a horse that had escaped from its stable. But stories like this still set off trains of thought and mystery about many enigmas of the world. The terrifying thougt of falling foul of the boogeyman while out somewhere dark and alone. My grandfather may not have seen the bogle, but he was well aware of the local folklore about it.
But are the many folk stories from different parts of the world about boogeymen and monsters all just make believe? Are they all just smoke and mirrors? Or are there sinister truths in the origins of some of these legends? In this article I will investigate some of the monsters said to haunt the dark corners of this earth. As the saying goes; There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy...
Mytholigal Beasts: Giants
There are still unusually large people on the earth today. Although when we think of giants we don't think of the average tall NBA player that might be around 7 feet in height. Giants perhaps are thought of as having fuller figures and being altogether much taller and larger in proportion than any normal human being.
